Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
I am a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. I completed my medical degree in Sydney at the University of New South Wales and also completed a Masters of Surgery at the University of Sydney.
Whether a procedure is a reconstructive procedure or aesthetic procedure, the principles of my practice are the same; and that is to treat each patient as I would like to be treated.
I have subspecialty training in microsurgery and autologous breast reconstruction (DIEP flap) as well as aesthetic surgery of the breast and body. I find that these two components of my practice complement each other and optimise patient outcomes.
Outside of the operating room I am involved in teaching future plastic surgeons and research. I frequently attend national and international conferences to ensure I am up to date with the most recent techniques and technological advances in the field.
I reside in Sydney and live an active lifestyle with my wife and three children. In our spare time we hit the outdoors and enjoy surfing, skiing and the Australian countryside.

At this world leading microsurgical institute he worked with world renowned surgeons including Mr Jamie Martin-Smith. AESTHETIC SURGERY OF THE BREAST & BODY
The decision to undergo cosmetic surgery is not to be taken lightly. It is important to have a good understanding of the results that can be realistically expected as well as being aware of the potential complications. Dr van der Rijt has sub-specialty training in cosmetic plastic surgery. His focus is on breast reduction surgery, post pregnancy surgery of the breast and body.

Skin Surgery
SKIN CANCER EXCISION & RECONSTRUCTION
Skin cancers, including SCC (Squamous Cell Carcinoma), BCC (Basal Cell Carcinoma) and Melanoma are common in Australia. In many instances skin cancers can be managed well by non specialists but in some instances patients may be referred to a specialist for their management. Dr van der Rijt has extensive training and experience in complex skin cancer management and reconstruction.

Advanced head and neck malignancy requires specialised care and a team approach. Dr van der Rijt is a proud and active member of the Head and Neck MDT (multi-disciplinary team) at Prince of Wales Hospital via the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Dr van der Rijt also performs complex microsurgical reconstruction at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital.

Dr van der Rijt’s private rooms are located at Prince of Wales Private Clinic in Randwick as well as Clinic 423 in Surry Hills. Dr van der Rijt also consults out Gosford Private Hospital Clinic on the Central Coast as well as Port Skin Clinic in Port Macquarie.
